People’s norm today is to focus on competition. Its always a competition. They are always competing with others. This naturally makes us optimize ourselves for winning. In doing so we lose our soul: Soul in our work, Soul in our lives.
Playing to always win, even when there is no competition is the biggest problem of modern times. What are you competing for? Beat the next quarters targets? Earn more than before? What is it that you want? Why do you want it? Because society demands it? Why do you accept society’s demands? Who are you trying to make happy? Your family? Will making more money than you do now make them happy?
If you’re making enough to feed your family, give them a comfortable home, give the children good education, isn’t it enough? Then what are you competing for? A bigger home? A bigger car? More bank balance?
Learn to live. Observe yourself, learn to also observe yourself with Drishta bhava, by being the witness. When you learn to see yourself for who you are without judgement, your ego will start to melt away. Your expectations from the world will begin to fade. You will naturally see what really matters and its not something you will find by competing with the world.
